Instructions
Measure the angle of the shockwave relative to the vehicle, and then use the tool below to calculate the mach that the object is travelling at. The smaller the angle, the greater the mach number of the vehicle.
Note that it is only possible to accurately calculate the exact speed in mph, kph or meters per second, if you know the speed of sound at the position of the craft, but it is possible to calculate the Mach number.
